This week, Tom introduces Mike to the Sherlock Holmes universe, which till now he knew only through various parodies. And Mike wants to know: Is Sherlock Holmes supposed to be a giant dick? Why does Watson keep working for him? He really is the worst boss ever. Which isn’t to say the book isn’t entertaining, though it does have a bit more phrenology than Mike is comfortable with.

In the second half of the show, we workshop a few possibilities for new segments, including one called Q-Tips, and another called Speaking Truth to Power. Which of them will make the cut? (If you like any of them, or have your own suggestions, feel free to drop us an email or just let us know in the comments). We’ve also got our first Custom Rejection from master rejectionist and friend of the show Lee Klein. If you’d like your own rejection, you can have one in exchange for a $15 donation to the show.

As always, you can stream the episode here on our site, or download the mp3 file. Or visit us in the iTunes store–or on Stitcher, or Instacast–and subscribe (for free) so you never miss another episode of the show. If you like what we’re doing, please help spread the word by tweeting or Facebooking about the show, or just shouting about it from your open car window. Thanks for listening!

  1. Sherlock Holmes fanfiction recommendations of all sorts!

    “Lending a Hand”
    “Blame the Trees”
    any of these:

    And especially for Tom:
    (BBC Sherlock) “Messages Unspoken”
    “Concertos and Blackmail” (non-slash)
